Today is a Great Day to Commit to Quit

November 16th marks the American Cancer Society's annual Great American Smokeout! Now is a great time to encourage those who smoke or vape to commit to start their quit journey and a tobacco/nicotine-free life.

Taking this first step will lead to improvements in overall health both immediately and over the long term - and no one has to go through this process alone.

The Maryland Department of Health has FREE Tobacco Quitline support resources that can increase the chances of quitting successfully.

  • Residents ages 13 and older can access free counseling services by calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW or texting "READY" to 200-400.

  • Residents ages 18 and older can also receive free patches or lozenges sent to their home (while supplies last).

For teens or young adults who need help quitting vaping, This is Quitting is a free and anonymous text messaging program from Truth Initiative designed to help young people quit vaping. The first-of-its-kind quit program incorporates messages from other young people like them who have attempted to, or successfully quit, e-cigarettes. Text DITCHVAPE to 88709
