About the Coalition

In Maryland, all jurisdictions have established Local Health Improvement Coalitions to tackle critical health issues. In 2021, the five Mid Shore counties – Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot – united to exchange knowledge and pool limited resources. From Chambers of Commerce and public school districts to hospitals, healthcare partners, faith-based, and community organizations, more than 200 individuals representing over 100 organizations are collaborating towards the shared objective of enhancing the health of Mid Shore residents and promoting health equity. Key focus areas include Diabetes/Healthy Living, Health Equity/Social Determinants of Health, Tobacco/Cancer, Telehealth, Health Literacy, and Provider Recruitment and Retention.

Values

We are a "home" for people who share a commitment to population health. We believe
we have greater potential for impact when we create community to solve problems,
share new ideas and explore different perspectives.

Community

The Coalition's Mission, Vision, and Values are adopted from the American Public Health Association.

The Coalition thrives because of our broad and diverse member organizations.
